AquaCare staff take to the water for Julia’s House

22 June 2009

Appropriately a 16-strong team from AquaCare took to the water in a dragon boat race at Sherborne Castle's country fair.

They raised more than £500 after taking part in three races on the castle lake, the third against a team from Naomi House, the Hampshire children's hospice. The 'AquaCare Angels' romped home, knocking 15 seconds off their previous best time.

The money raised by the team will be donated to Julia's House, AquaCare's nominated charity.

Dawn Witt, AquaCare's Marketing Manager and a member of team, said: "Our engineers and customer service staff really rose to the occasion and had a great day out as well as raising much-needed funds for Julia's House

"The best news is that our efforts mean that we've covered the cost of a morning's care for up to ten children at the Julia's House hospice."

Based at Knapp Mill, AquaCare is the property services and maintenance business of Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water.

Founded in 1997, the company specialises in providing plumbing, heating, drainage, waster supply pipe repairs, home emergency insurance and water hygiene services.

It operates across Dorset and West Hampshire using its own team of qualified plumbers, Gas Safe Register heating engineers and Legionella technicians. The company employs 77 staff and has a £4.5 million annual turnover.

Making a splash: AquaCare staff, with Diane Pestell of Julia’s House acting as drummer, take to the water.
