Teenager sees winning van design hit the road

Teenager Tabitha Pople received a real thrill when a van sporting her livery design turned up at her house.

The 14-year-old won a contest to design a Julia’s House van livery for AquaCare.

The property services and maintenance company has adopted the Dorset children’s hospice as its 2009 charity.

Tabitha, whose brother Bertie, 15, attends Julia’s House, saw her winning design for the first time when the van arrived at her Dorchester home.

Her verdict? “It’s great and will bring a smile to people’s faces,” she said.

Also attending the unveiling was Dorchester Mayor, Cllr Susie Hosford, a member of the Julia’s House care team who helps look after Bertie.

She said: “This is a great idea and helps get the Julia’s House name even better known across the area.”

Tabitha’s winning design will now be seen on the road across Dorset and Hampshire for at least the next 12 months.

Dawn Witt, AquaCare’s Marketing Manager, described the van as “great fun.”

She added: “As we are supporting a children's charity it is far more meaningful that the van is designed by someone with close connections to Julia's House.

“We feel very proud to be sponsoring Julia's House and helping to further raise the profile of this very worthwhile charity."

Founded in 1997, AquaCare is owned by Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water and specialises in providing plumbing, heating, drainage, water supply pipe repairs, home emergency insurance and water hygiene services.

It operates across Dorset and West Hampshire using its own team of qualified plumbers, Gas Safe Register heating engineers and Legionella technicians. The company employs 77 staff and has a £4.5 million annual turnover.
