Come and paint one of my vans: Simon Booth, AquaCare's Managing DirectorA CHRISTCHURCH company has thrown down the gauntlet to hundreds of local schoolchildren - come and paint one of our vans!

AquaCare, the plumbing, heating and drainage services business, has launched a 'Paint Our Van' contest as part of its tenth anniversary celebrations.

The company, which is part of Bournemouth and West Hampshire Water, has contacted nine schools in the Christchurch area, with pupils aged 4 to 11 years, and invited them to take part.

The winner will have the excitement of seeing his/her design on an AquaCare van where it will remain and be visible in and around the Christchurch area for six months.

The winner, and runners-up, will also receive a cash prize as well as a separate £150 donation to the winning school.

Judges for the competition include Jim Hunter, Director of School of Art, The Arts Institute at Bournemouth; Nigel Beale, Deputy Chairman, Beale plc and Non-Executive Director of Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water plc and Robin Thompkins, Chief Reporter (Christchurch), Daily Echo, Bournemouth

Simon Booth, AquaCare's Managing Director, who is also on the judging panel, said the closing date for the competition is June 8.

"This strikes us as a fun and different way to celebrate a landmark anniversary for AquaCare. We're hoping for lots of colourful and wacky designs," said Simon.

Schools already confirming they will be taking part include Highcliffe St Mark Primary School; The Priory CE VA Primary School; Somerford Primary Community School and St Josephs Catholic VA Primary School.
